As our loved ones age, it's important to make sure their home is a safe environment.
Install grab bars in the bathroom and shower to help prevent falls.
Remove tripping hazards, such as loose rugs and electrical cords.
Ensure that all areas of the home are well-lit to help prevent falls and increase visibility.
Install handrails on stairs to provide extra support.
Consider using non-slip mats in the bathtub and shower.
Install smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the home.
Check that all appliances are working properly and have safety features, such as automatic shut-off.
Make sure there are no sharp edges on furniture or countertops.
Keep a first-aid kit on hand in case of an emergency.
Consider installing a medical alert system so your loved one can quickly call for help if needed.
